Description
Giant’s Tale was written for the Southeast Trombone Symposium and the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University.
Imagine some the finest trombone players coming together in one piece.
Giant’s Tale tells this story. 10 outstanding musicians joining in a festival of sounds.
The opening reveals immediately the character of the entire piece. A grand opening with lots of ongoing movement, which result in a compulsive drive thought the first movement.
The second movement features a beautiful silk top line in the solo trombone. Jazzy/pop orientated, but still very delicate in it’s simplicity. Followed by a stunning choral in the band.
The 3rd movement shows a vivid, energetic sound. Like a ancient dance, all themes are combined to a giant finale.
Steven Verhelst adapted this magnificent piece for Brass Band.
