Description
Berno, is a musical portrait, inspired by tubaist Bernd Van Echelpoel, for whom this work has been written.
All characteristics of soloist and the instrument are combined one by one.
From the warm, low register of the tuba, a melancholic theme arises and continues to develop throughout the entire piece.
But also the humoristic side of the solist and tuba get their spotlight.
Until the end, a mysterious atmopshere remains, where we find the true nature of the instrument in all its glory.
The melancholic theme changes into a beautiful, couraging hymn.
Berno was originally written for Tuba and Wind Band
